Food blog: Orange, cranberry and chocolate chip scones


I like to have something little and something sweet each night after dinner but also do not want to feel too guilty afterwards. Of course, pinterest came to the rescue and I find these scones. There is no added sugar or butter as the sweetener is from the honey and the natural ingredients.

They are easy to make and the end result is yummy!


4 cups flour                                                                                                                                                         1 3/4 teaspoons of baking powder                                                                                                             1/2 teaspoon of sea salt                                                                                                                                    3 tablespoons of honey                                                                                                                                   2 teaspoons of vanilla extract                                                                                                                       2 tablespoons of grated orange peel                                                                                                          1/2 cup of orange juice                                                                                                                                     2 eggs                                                                                                                                                                 1/2 cup dried cranberries                                                                                                                            1/2 cup chocolate chips

Set the oven to 350 degrees. Mix the flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl. In a separate bowl whisk the egg, orange juice, orange zest, vanilla extract and honey. Next mix the dry ingredients with the wet and add in the cranberries and chocolate chips until all folded in together and a dough is formed. Leave in fridge for five minutes.                                                                                                                                                     Sprinkle flour onto your countertop and roll out the dough into a circle. Next take a sharp knife and cut out the scones by slicing the dough in half and half again until the desired sized triangular scones are created. Place on baking sheet with greased parchment paper and bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes.
