Motivational Books

Hi all 🙂

I seem to have writers block today! I have many post ideas but cannot seem to actually begin writing them. However I have decided to take the plunge and put whatever words come to mind down on paper or in this case, computer. Hopefully it doesn’t create a disaster. 😛

I absolutely love to read and I feel like a good old sit down, hot beverage, cozy setting with a good book is good for anyone. As you can tell from the title of this post, I will be recommending a few motivational books that are really uplifting and quite frankly, motivating. However these books are not always my go to, I enjoy reading good old fiction novels but that post will be coming later on. These books I will be suggesting are my more rare occasion reads, when I feel like I need a boost in my life.

I have read a few of these types of books and have narrowed it down to the ones that made me feel like I wanted to jump up and get moving after every page. Hopefully they have the same effect on you!

The first book is titled Roadmap by Road Trip Nation who are an organization that’s objectives are no less than trying to help people create their own life paths and careers despite their pasts or limitations.

This book is incredible! It spoke straight to the heart as I found myself constantly shying away from the traditional idea of what life has to be, getting an education, finding a job for the money, buying material items to symbolize success and really a life that is competitive and very much assembly-line approach. I hated this idea and the pressure in which comes from these expectations that are put onto us throughout our entire lives. And this book touched exactly on that. It allowed my whole mind frame to change, as if I was talking to someone who felt the same way as me and they were giving me ways to make whatever it was I wanted okay and actual methods on how to live a life that I am totally in control of.

I really do recommend this book to anyone who may be unsure or panicked for their future, or confused and lost in which decisions to make and how to do them. This book is incredible for creating a solution to unwelcomed expectations coming from friends and family or worries about competing with friends and being reassured that you are on the right path, that you are not wasting your time by following your dreams and that you are the one in control of your life. Even if you are not a reader, which if so I would be surprised you have clicked on this post (thank you though :)), check out their website Road Trip Nation as there is lots of advice and tips including interviews from professionals and well known people who share their stories of their success. If you did want to get your hands on this book, you may have to get your local book store to order it for you, that’s what I did.

The second book I will recommend is Pretty Happy by Kate Hudson. I may have mentioned this before but I love Kate Hudson. She is one of those people who I find so uplifting, positive and full of energy. So when I heard she wrote a book that was all about loving your body, I knew it would be a good motivational read. As you also may already know I am very much into fitness and healthy lifestyles so this book was right up my alley. 🙂

One thing I really liked about this book is that in the early beginning you are shown three different types of people and you are able to identify which type you are under and that way while reading throughout the book you learn things that are directly centered to you. I found this more interesting that just reading a book in which generally states how to love yourself. This way it was a little more personal!

During me reading her book I found myself really stepping back and viewing myself differently, in a more positive light. She makes you look at the flaws you thought you once had differently and in a way learn to accept and love them. She has very realistic ways in being healthy such as her tips for exercise is to make sure its something you love either dancing or running and a little movement everyday makes a difference.

I have always felt loving oneself is very important and shared a little of my thoughts on this in my previous post I want to motivate you. You are the most important person in your life and this book I hope will help you realize that.

I promise after reading these two books you will know it was worth it and you can live your life a little better than you were before reading them.

Happy reading! 🙂
