Hi everyone, Hope you are all having a great day.
I thought I will share my opinions on the few books I have read recently this summer. I haven’t read as much as I would like to, have been busy with work, but still have read a good enough amount.
The first book is The Drafter by Kim Harrison. This book has a very similar storyline to the detective TV shows such as CIA, NCIS and reminded me a lot of Covert Affairs. If you enjoy readings with this storyline focus, you will enjoy this book. There are a lot of plot twists and character building and you will find yourself connecting with a few of the main characters. There is a little bit of romance and betrayal and as I said there are many plot twists constantly leaving you in suspense. The book is described as ‘edge of your seat thriller’ and ‘leaves you guessing until the end’ and I can say this is all very true.
The second book is Still Mine by Amy Stuart. This book is written with two storylines intertwined and by this I mean we are following along with two characters who are connected in one way but both have their own different problems that pulls us along throughout the book. Shayna is one of the main characters who is missing and Clare is another main character who is running away from an abusive husband. Clare has been asked to help find Shayna by an undercover detective who was initially hired by her abusive husband to bring her back to him. There are a lot of mysteries throughout the story and we are constantly questioning many of the characters motives. Definitely another book that keeps you on the edge of your seat.
The third book I have read is The Kind Worth Killing by Peter Swanson. The perfect way of describing this book is darkly entertaining. The story revolves around a man who has found his money-hungry wife cheating on him and he meets another women on a plane who has her own dark background and influences him to act out on murdering his wife. Lily, the woman on the plane is a very complex character and she is very dark, mysterious, an influencer and throughout the story we learn more and more about her. This book will pull you in all different ways, connecting with one character and then shifting you to the next and you will find yourself becoming very involved with the plot. This book is sexual, action driven and suspenseful. I couldn’t put this one down!
The last book that I have read this summer thus far is All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven. I was introduced to this book through Zoella’s WHSmith book club and even though I have seemed to shift away from reading Young Adult fiction, I decided to give this one a go. I am glad I did! This book will pull at your heart strings as you follow along with Finch and Violet who become best friends after meeting on top of the bell tower at their school. Finch is fascinated by death and has many problems, where Violet has many problems of her own. This is a suicidal story with twists and romance and because of this realistic topic in which this story follows, I found it to be one of those books that is really touching and will bring out your emotions. You will connect with these characters and will want to somehow insert yourself into the story to help them. Definitely a good read!
Well these are the books I have read thus far this summer however will not be the only ones. I am currently in the middle of another and once I finish a few more, I will share another book review with you all. 🙂
Let me know of any good books you enjoyed and recommend!
Bye for now.
