We would be lying if we said the drinks that are known for coming out around Christmas time are not a major contribution to the entire festive celebrations. At least they really are a major part of mine.
The warm, sugary, chocolate drinks topped with lots of whip cream all add to the warm, cozy images I associate with Christmas. Curling up with cozy socks and fluffy blankets with either a really good book or movie go hand in hand with these yummy, festive beverages.
Number one must have: The traditional hot chocolate.
Taking the traditional hot chocolate drink to another level is something I have mastered and is always offered at Cafe’s and that means putting more toppings like cinnamon or candy cane on top and having the options of white hot chocolate, peppermint hot chocolate and always, always, whip cream on top! 🙂
A Salted Caramel Latte
This is something I get literally all the time from any cafe I go to. I always have it with almond or coconut milk and it is absolutely delicious, sweet, but not too sweet, and its not a crazy, all out festive drink, so having it all the time is fine. At least thats what I tell myself!
Caramel Brûlée Latte
OMG this is a festive drink by Starbucks and it tastes so amazing! Just looking at it you know it will satisfy any sweet caffeine cravings for sure! Starbucks has two other festive drinks for this time of year that I have yet to try but will be trying very soon!
Peppermint Hot Chocolate
I know I already included hot chocolates, but this year I have actually fallen in love with any peppermint drinks, especially peppermint hot chocolate so it has to have its own section. Starbucks, Tim Hortons, any cafe right now has this available and you must get it and of course with whip cream on top 🙂
Vegan hot chocolate
I don’t think any one should miss out on the festive drinks bandwagon and for those of you who may not know, I tried out a vegan lifestyle for 6 months last year, (Loved it and am going to do it again soon, but thats for another post) so I have included an amazing recipe for vegan hot chocolate that you can make yourself, here:
1 cup unsweetened non-dairy milk
1/4 cup coconut milk (full fat or light)
4 1/2 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder
Sweetener of choice to taste
Coconut whip (optional)
Cinnamon for garnish (optional)
Heat non-dairy milk and coconut milk in a small pot. Heat until steaming but not boiling.
Whisk in cocoa powder.
Add sweetener to taste, stir.
If using coconut whip, add to the top.
If garnishing with cinnamon, sprinkle on top.
I hope this blog post hasn’t caused you too many sweet tooth cravings, but if they have, go treat yourself to one of those festive drinks. You deserve it 🙂
See you tomorrow! 🙂
