This is a recipe that I have made on my own over time, a few ideas and inspirations from Niomi Smart’s oatmeal recipes (highly recommend checking her out and her recent vegan cookbook) and incorporating different oatmeal ideas of my own.
It is one that I imagine as very Christmasy because of all the flavours and ingredients and even my friend commented from her bedroom that it smells amazing!
I would like to call it the ‘Christmasy chocolate and cranberry and many other things oatmeal’ but can’t imagine that will go far haha!
It takes only five minutes to make and is very changeable in which ingredients and toppings you would like to include, most of what you probably already have in your fridge and pantry! And trust me it is delicious and filling!
1 cup old fashioned oats
1 and a 1/2 cups of Chocolate almond milk
1 cup water
2 tablespoons of cinnamon (optional)
A handful of sliced strawberries
One large banana sliced
A handful of blueberries
1/2 cup dried cranberries
Some of your favourite pine nuts, coconut flakes and cranberry trail mix
Grab a small saucepan and put over medium heat. Add oats, almond milk, water and cinnamon and give a stir. After about a minute add half of the banana, strawberries and cranberries and stir. Keep over heat until the consistency of the oatmeal is where you prefer and the fruit is melted and soft. Then pour straight into a bowl and top with the left over strawberries, banana and cranberries, add the blueberries and sprinkle any desired trail mix or other toppings on top. Bon appetite!
It is so delicious!! Also if you are one of those people who get a lot of chocolaty cravings, this recipe is a really good one. Its healthy, hearty and delicious!
