My New Healthy Lifestyle Routine

Hey guys!

For those of you who read my last few posts, I mentioned a little bit about me thinking of going back Vegan, my new year resolutions and meal prep and I thought I would officially come on here and share my plans for my fitness routine and healthy lifestyle. I wanted to make some major changes starting in 2017 and I am super excited!

Dietary Aspect:

Firstly, I am going to be vegan. I was vegan last year for 6 months and I really liked it. My body felt energized, clean and just working the way it should be. My reason for being vegan is a mix, I simply enjoy the lifestyle and I view it as a healthy lifestyle, as well as avoiding directing my money or associate with any inhumane ways of treating animals. I should point out these goals of mine I will be officially starting January 9th which may seem an odd time, but it is when I return back to University and can properly get back into a routine.

Secondly, I am going to try meal prepping. I have heard a ton about this and I have decided to give it a try. I think especially since I am going vegan again, it will be easier and more convenient for me to meal prep as well as ensure I am remaining healthy and not making quick meals that may not have the most nutritious ingredients inside.

Fitness Aspect:

In regards to my fitness routine, I have signed up with the BBG program, which for those of you who may not be familiar with, it is the Bikini Body Guide by Kayla Itsines. It is a complete schedule of workouts and Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays are resistant training targeted at specific body parts while Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday are your choice of cardio and Sunday is rest day. The workouts are around 30 minutes each day which is really easy to fit into my schedule at school along with my access to my apartments gym, so I will be giving that a go. Let me know if you are interested and would like me to do a post on my opinion or reactions to the program once I get into it!

Mental Aspect:images.png

Also within my weekly schedule I have set a time aside for what I call Mindful Minutes and Reflective Minutes. Mindful minutes I am referring to activities that allow me to slow down and focus, either it be a yoga class, meditation or a pamper night. Anything that allows me to put myself as priority and give what my body needs. Reflective minutes is time where I either write in my journal or a notebook about how I am feeling or my achievements or visions. This keeps me focused and on track with my resolutions and just life in general. It is important to take time out like these and focus on the little things, putting your body and mind first and taking care of yourself.

Once I begin the routine of these things and have been doing them for awhile, I can do a more specific blog post on each one and give any tips I find that can be helpful and my overall experience.
