Summer is either finally here for you or just right around the corner. I am very excited for getting some colour again and enjoying the ocean and sun. For those of you who do not know, I live in Bermuda and am very lucky to be spending another summer in paradise.
Summer tends to be the time of year where everyone eats a little healthier and focuses on good foods. I know for me, summer always means bikinis, shorts and dresses so feeling good is very important which means eating good. Ive decided to share ways that I stay healthy specifically in summer.
My meals become a lot more colourful~
Lately my breakfasts have consisted of a wide variety of fruits and my lunches and dinners are surrounded by vegetables. If your plate looks filled with different colours then it is most likely filled with wholesome fruits and veggies which is exactly what you want to be fuelling your body with. Bloating is the worst all year round, but even more so during summer, therefore eat lots of fruits and vegetables that digest efficiently and quickly, causing you to not bloat as you would with heavy grains and carbs.
Another easy technique to ensure bloating happens less is drinking detox waters. Making your own infused water is so yummy and perfect for summer, not only to hydrate your body during the hot weather but also because of the fruits put into the water just gives you a little boost of energy and replenishing. Lemon in water is perfect for detoxing and helps with de-bloating! Overall, ensuring you are constantly hydrating your body is essential in summer and healthy for your body. A good habit to create is carrying a water bottle with you wherever you go and start each morning with a glass of water.
Workout minimum three days a week~
Not only does eating healthy make me feel good and confident but working out especially contributes too. Keeping your body active and planning at minimum three workouts a week is a good routine for summer. I plan my workouts the week before for each week and in summer it is perfect for working out outside. I mix my workouts between runs/walks on different routes, yoga, online videos and all of my friends are home during the summer as well so working out with someone else is really effective in keeping you accountable to your workouts and you can push each other to perform better.
I will have some more posts coming soon, specifically sharing my workouts for specific weeks, some recipes and what I eat in a day posts.
Let me know if there is anything specific you would like me to touch on! Thanks for reading and happy summer 🙂
