The common cookie recipe, sugar cookies with Hershey’s chocolate chips in the centre. These were on my Christmas bucket list for this year and I made some time to make them and am very happy I did. They are super yummy, soft and chewy and the perfect amount of chocolate from the centre.
They are easy to make and I found them quite fun. I used the original Hershey’s milk chocolate kisses but it would be nice to use the different types of kisses, like the peppermint, or the white chocolate swirl. I think I will try those next time I make them again.
Here is what you will need:
2 cups softened butter, 1 egg, 3 cups of flour, 1 cup of white sugar, 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract, 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
In a small bowl, stir together the flour, salt and baking powder.
In a large bowl, mix together the butter and sugar until creamy. Next beat in the eggs and sugar until all combined.
Then slowly sift in the dry ingredients, mixing well until all is incorporated and creamy.
While writing this post I noticed in the recipes it says to chill the dough for one hour in the fridge, but I unintentionally skipped that part and went straight to using a teaspoon for measuring the size of the cookies, rolling them into balls and placing them on a greased cookie sheet. I mean, mine turned out perfect, they really are yummy so I don’t know how much of a difference chilling the dough will make.
We will just continue on haha.
Once placed evenly on the cookie sheet, I lightly pressed a chocolate kiss in the centre and using my fingers, pushed down the sides slightly so that the cookie was a little flattened and even on all sides.
The temperature I put the oven to was 375 degrees and I baked them for 10 minutes.
Make sure to let them sit and cool before removing them from the baking sheet. Enjoy.
Let me know what is your favourite type of cookie this time of year? Also what have you recently baked? I am always interested to know.
Bye for now.
